Bush “unaware” of $4 Gas Forecosts

According to CNN Money, it seems as though our president is completely clueless when it comes to the effects of US Energy Policy.  When told many analysts forcast $4 gas in the near future, Bush responded, “That’s interesting.  I hadn’t heard that.”   Doesn’t exactly inspire confidence in the government, does it?  However, that unawareness didn’t stop Bush from promoting his cherished tax cuts and, yet again, calling on congress to make them permanent.

“If you’re out there wondering… what your life is going to be like, and you’re looking at $4 a gallon, that’s uncertain…And when you couple that with the idea that… taxes may be going up in a couple years, that’s double uncertainty.”

Fair enough, but what does that have to do with the price of gasoline?  Look, I’m all for making the tax cuts permanent.  I am of the opinion that taxes should be held as low as humanly possible while still paying the bills.  The real problem is wasteful government spending, no arguments here.  But am I the only one getting a bit tired of the same canned responses to every economic jolt?  Yes, we know you love tax cuts.  So do we.  But what are you going to DO about the crisis du jour?  If you’re not going to do anything, that’s fine.  But at least tell us that.  And tell us why.  Don’t patronize us.  We know you have no idea what’s going on or what to do about it, and we’re fine with it.  We’d respect you more if you’d just tell us instead of spouting some nonsense about tax cuts, which for the life of me I can’t figure out what that has to do with $4 gas.

Since our government is apparently clueless, does anybody else out there have any ideas how to solve our energy problems?  America is all ears.
