The title of this post may be a bit misleading, since there si nothing in the actual study that outright states payday loans cause more bankruptcies. Furthermore, I question their methods and underlying assumptions as they don’t seem to control for most of the contributing variables. Still, an interesting and seemingly self-evident idea. I recommend reading the primary source before drawing conclusions.

Higher Than Normal Rent Scam by Four Pillars
Ok, so this one’s not from the past week but it’s still interesting. The moral of the story is to always, always, always triple-check what you’re told by the seller and verify nothing suspicious is going on compared to the rest of the rentals in the neighborhood.
