I participated in three carnivals this week: carnival of personal finance #161 hosted by The Budgeting Babe, Carnival of Money Stories #68 hosted by Funny About Money, and the Festival of Frugality #134 hosted by On Financial Success. All three hosts did a stellar job and, as usual, there are tons of great posts to be found. If you have the time, I highly suggest you skim through this week’s carnivals. You might learn something. Without further ado, here are a few of my favorite posts from each.

Carnival Of Personal Finance

A Dollar Is A Dollar, Except When It Isn’t on The Platinum Years Network. It’s interesting that people are so sensitive to certain types of spending and not to others. This post details a few of these seeming inconsistencies.

The Lady Who Wouldn’t Pay Off Her Credit Cards by Can I Get Rich On A Salary. Even successful savers don’t get everything right, which to me says there’s hope for all of us: you don’t have to do things perfectly to retire in comfort.

Why I Hate Cash by Broke Grad Student. I agree but for a different reason: paying in cash makes it difficult for me to track exactly where my money is going. If I buy with a card, I can immediately see every little purchase online.

Festival Of Frugality

20 Cheap, Healthy Dishes by Cheap Healthy Good (apt name). I get bored eating the same inexpensive food at home over and over again. Best to mix it up.

How Higher Gas Prices Save Money by Funny About Money. Chances are, you can optimize your driving fairly easily and end up spending LESS on gas than you were before. Try it!

Find The Lowest Prices Online With Channel-Specific Discount Links by Financial Ramblings. I always sort-of suspected these existed, but now it’s confirmed. Thanks for the heads up!

Carnival Of Money Stories

The Story Of My Day Trading Addiction by Trees Full of Money. Day trading can be as hazardous for your wealth as any other addiction.

Monthly Passive Income Finally Breaks the $3,000 Barrier! by Living Off Dividends. Congratulations! If I could be generating half as much passive income a year from now, I’d be over-joyed.
