I don’t drive a Prius. I’ve been hit by cars as big as a Tahoe before and the larger car came away with far more damage. It’s not the size, it’s the quality of the engineering that matters. Tahoe’s are not well-engineered.

What blame, exactly, do oil companies share? Trying to turn a profit? Oil companies have no more ability to set the price of gas than you or I do. They are completely subject to the whims of the market. Econ 101.

One simple but powerful idea is make full use of the gas already pumped into the engine. So, take foot off the gas pedal as soon as you see a red light ahead. By ahead, I mean, it can be almost a block ahead. It might irritate the driver behind you, but that is unintentional. Don’t use the brake (and waste the gas pumped a while ago) unless absolutely necessary. YMMV (pun intended).
