Weekend Link Love And Carnival Roundup
The Finance Blog Network
Here are a couple of interesting posts from The Finance Blog Network this week.
Real Tax Deductions That May Surprise You, which is actually a guest post by The Tax Guy. Claiming every tax benefit available to you is a key to building long-term wealth. Let Uncle Sam help you out. Incidentally, if anybody out there is interested in guest posting on this blog, you can contact me via kyle at (this domain) dot com.
Teaching Kids About Passive Income by Curt at Penny Jobs. I don’t have kids and have no current plans to have any, but the ability to generate multiple streams of passive income will become and increasingly important life skill as the world becomes smaller and jobs become less secure. Even just a few hundred dollars per month is enough to build up substantial savings and provide a sense of security in case you lose your job.
Also, I’d like to welcome a new member to the network: Alex at thestocktalk.net, whose blog focuses predominently on stock and market analysis. Check it out.
Carnival Of Personal Finance
This week’s Carnival of Personal Finance #168 was hosted at One Man’s Financial Journey. Judging from the Labor Day theme, this guy knows how to party. Here are a few of my favorite posts this week.
Squawkfox talks about surrounding yourself with excellence. Have you ever noticed how most successful people seem to associate with other successful people? This is no accident. Surround yourself with people you’d like to emulate.
The Personal Financier wonders if we over-value our free time. I personally think my free time is invaluable, and there is something beautiful in the act of doing absolutely nothing. That said, many people outsource everyday chores, such as cutting the grass, more out of laziness than anything else and such lack of physical activity can have a negative impact on your quality of life. Of course, if you devote the time you saved to productive business ventures, that’s something else entirely.

Thank you so much for the mention. I enjoyed writing the “excellence” post.
