Weekend Link Love And Writing Project Roundup
Finance Blog Network Group Writing Project
This week marks a second successful group writing project for The Finance Blog Network. This project’s topic were our predictions for the fourth quarter where each participant was asked to predict a number of events relating to the economy, stock market, and even the presidential election. As it turns out, my own predictions on the subject turned out to be the rosiest of the bunch. I guess I’m just an optimist.
Curt at Penny Jobs paints a relatively dismal picture of the future though not outright disaster. In retrospect, I think his predictions are probably more likely than mine, especially his thoughts on unemployment.
Andy at Saving To Invest thinks rising unemployment will push the economy into deep recession territory (if we’re not already there) but forsees a modest rise in the Dow and value of the dollar.
Bill at Money Hacks seems to be the most pessimistic of the bunch. He even mentions the possibility of reliving another Great Depression. I sure hope not!
Other Great Posts
Mr Cheap at Four PIllars describes another of his wacky business ideas I think actually has merit: talk bars. Basically, you pay to have attractive people talk to you and make you feel at home. It would take very careful marketing but I think this could actually work. Similar businesses have done well in New York City in the past.
The Smarter Wallet shares ways to save on Halloween items. I usually end up waiting until the last minute and throwing something together, but costumes are EXPENSIVE. On a semi-related note, what does everybody think I should dress up as for halloween? It has to be fun and frugal. Leave your opinion in the comments!

Thanks for mensioning my article, it was interesting to read everyones year end predictions, but the market has drastically changed from the beginning of the week to the end of the week. We are now over 40% down for the year and some countries are down 65%. This is a global meltdown. Where will it end?
As for halloween, you should go as a UFC fighter and have your wife go as a ring girl.
I want to say many thinks for mentioning my article! Let’s think about the holidays instead of dwelling on the financial crisis for the moment…? Okay, I know it’s hard not to obsess….
Oooops. I meant, I want to say many THANKS!
