PSA: Today Is The Last Chance To Claim Over 279,000 Stimulus Rebate Checks

Never received your stimulus rebate check but thought you should have?  Today (11/28/2008) is the last day to claim stimulus rebate checks.  According to CNN Money, over 279,000 stimulus rebate checks valued at over $163 million, or about $583 each, are still unclaimed.  The most likely reason most of these checks are still unclaimed is a simple address error.

If you’re unsure about your stimulate rebate’s status, check out the IRS’s Where’s My Stimulus Payment? tool to see what’s up.  Luckily, if you do manage to miss today’s deadline, all is not lost:  you’ll receive it as a credit on your 2008 tax return.  Even so, you should at least update your address information with the IRS to prevent this sort of thing from happening in the future.

I just received mine a couple of days ago. It came just in time to cover my 2007 tax payment shortfall. Perfect timing!
