So, you mean to say that at the risk of severing foreign ties, we need to "isolate" ourselves? In theory, it's a good idea, but in all actuality, it's not feasible. Especially in today's world, where we need allies more than anything else.

I mean, everyone hates us already, goddamnit.

Here's my insight- You're all wrong! US needs to insulate itself from national and international inflation, everything stops! We need to go through a great period of isolationism, a very important stage that is being skipped during market evolutions!!!!! Close off banks sending money overseas, borrow and lend only with in US market to businesses small and large, reign in the military/defense to provide defense at our doorstep only, and once the US is robust and flourishing once again we open our doors for a piece of what everyone wants. After that we can go back to frivolous spending and nonchalant foreign interests. Why not try it! B/c we have created a Country too "lock-boxed", too inflexible to sleep once in a while - to sleep perchance to dream. What kind of individual/country does not need its' sleep? A: a psychotic, dream deprived, enslaved, and corrupt one! We need to do a whole lot of work on ourselves which the rest of the world takes no interest. Government is one of the greatest beneficiaries of inflationary periods, but at what expense? The people! When in a democratic society, a worker can be bonded to his employer through dependency on benefits otherwise unaffordable, or a woman with out income can be enslaved to her husband's employer with do guarantee of benefits, that democracy is not helping it workers, only demanding participation through taxes.

You forgot workers. They lose from inflation when their wages stagnate and the buying power of those wages go down.

I agree, the government needs to reverse direction and raise interest rates to 15% - and they need to do it quickly.

Regarding long term borrowers benefiting from inflati0n, I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that incomes will keep pace with the inflation we are about to experience. Moreover, taxes will be going up as well, effectively reducing your spending power. Either way, borrowers lose.
