Summer is in full swing now, and it is hot outside.  Fortunately, I didn’t have to work friday and spent most of it keeping cool by the po…. I mean working on my blog.  Here are a few of my favorite posts this week.

My Health Insurance Nightmare by Ron at The Wisdom Journal.  COBRA cost me an arm and a leg, but I was happy to have the coverage.  That said, I could have probably found a better deal on health insurance elsewhere.

Beware The :No-Cost” Mortage Refinance by Nickel at Five Cent Nickel.  If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.  Usually, the mortgage lender will just compensate by rolling the closing costs into the mortgage or giving you a higher interest rate.

10 Economic And Business Pro Tips From World Of Warcraft by College and Finance.  Who says you can’t learn about business and be a nerd at the same time?

My Next Automobile May Just Be A Hummer by Curt from Pennyjobs.  Unfortunately, an SUV is completely out of the question for me now that I commute 30 miles round-trip to work and back.  Hopefully I’ll be able to find a good job within 5 miles of where I live when the economy recovers (if it ever does).

Carnival Of Personal Finance

Thanks to Money Under 30 for featuring my post Women Should Buy Their Own Engagement Ring in this week’s Carnival of Personal finance #208.  Not surprisingly, that post received a lot of attention, most of it negative.  Here are a few other posts from this week’s carnival I enjoyed.

How GM’s Bankruptcy Affects You by Sound Money Matters.  Basically, if you’ve already bought a GM car, you won’t be affected too much.

The Best Mutual Funds For Your Money by Money Smart Life.  The best fund for you entirely depends on your situation and goals.

Investing During Inflation:  Real Estate by A Modern Gal.  Modern Gal gives a series of reasons why she doesn’t like direct investment in real estate, reasons I mostly agree with.
