I’ve done a lot of catching up reading pf blogs this week after a relaxing vacation in Puerto Rico last weekend during which I didn’t so much as touch a computer.  Here are the best of the bunch.

Do A Background Check Before Hiring A Financial Planner by Jeff Rose (of Good Financial Cents) on Wisebread – Over 2/3 of investors neglect to do a background check on prospective financial advisers before turning over their hard-earned savings.  I believe you should always check up on anybody who will be managing your money.  Here, Jeff offers a variety of free resources to make sure you’re not handing over your money to a crook.

How To Hitchhike by Four Pillars – Hitchhiking is a great way to save on transportation costs!  It’s also a great way to end up in the morgue, if you’re not careful.  Mr Cheap shares his experiences.

Ramen Profitable also by Four Pillars – Ramen Profitable is a term describing a small business that generates enough cash to pay its own expenses and afford a meager lifestyle for its owners.  Blogging is probably a good candidate for this label :)

My Experience With myFICO by Free From Broke – FFB’s experience with myFICO mirrors my own.  I highly recommend it as the easiest, most direct way to get your credit score.  I’ve written in great detail how other credit reporting sites are scams at worst and a bad deal at best (such as freecreditreport.com).  As I’ve written before, annualcreditreport.com is the only place to get your absolutely free credit report and myFICO.com is the best place to get your FICO score.

How To Make Your Apartment More Energy Efficient by My Dollar Plan – Lots of good tips here.

How One Widow And Three Kids Survived The Great Depression by Mrs Micah – Compared to the Great Depression, the current recession doesn’t seem so bad.

Glad to hear you had a similar experience with myFICO. Many don’t realize that other places that offers score either have strings attached or they aren’t actual FICO scores.
