If you are paying too much on your auto insurance premiums, you should check to see if your insurance provider offers discounts. You can save hundreds of dollars each year if you take advantage of auto insurance discounters.

If you have auto and homeowners insurance with two different insurance companies, you should consider bringing those policies to one insurance company. Most insurance provider’s offer multiple policy discounts to their customers.

Some insurance companies offer discounts to good drivers. If you have a clean driving history with no violations or accidents on file for the last three years or so, you may receive a discount on your auto insurance premiums.

If you take and pass a Defensive Driver course, you can get a discount with most insurance providers. The test is easy, but you do need to study for it. If you pass the test and your insurer offers this kind of discount, the company will lower your premiums for three years. When the discount expires, you can take the test again in order to get another discount for three more years.

Many insurance companies offer discounts for safe vehicles. If you have airbags, anti-lock brakes, factory-installed motorized seat belts, anti-theft devices, or a car alarm, you may qualify for a discount on your car insurance. In addition, if you keep your vehicle in a garage, you may be given another discount.

If you are in college and you are a good student, you may qualify for a discount with your insurance company. Contact your insurer if you are a student. Find out what their GPA requirements are if you want to receive a discount on your auto insurance policy.

If you are a senior citizen or retired, you may qualify for a discount. Contact your insurance provider. If you are not putting a lot of mileage on your car each year, you may be rewarded for it.

If you have had auto insurance with one company for a long time, you may qualify for a discount. Contact your insurance company and tell them how long you have been a policyholder. Find out if they can give you a break on your car insurance premiums. Many insurance companies give their customers 10 percent off their premiums if they have stayed with the company for 3-5 years.

Other discounts may be available, so contact your insurance provider. If you take advantage of the discounts that are available, you will reduce your auto insurance premiums and fatten your wallet.
