If you are in the market for a new auto insurance policy getting price quotes is easier than ever before. By simply visiting the internet you can receive multiple price quotes, almost instantly. Getting on line auto insurance price quotes is a quick and simple way to compare policies and prices.

Two Types Of Sites To Get Auto Insurance Estimates

There are two different options available to receive auto insurance estimates online. The first is to visit the sites of individual insurance carriers (such as Allstate or Esurance, for instance). Almost all companies offer on line price quotes and all you have to do is enter your information into a form on the company’s web site.

The other way to get quotes is to visit an auto insurance comparison quote site such as Netquote.com (there are numerous such sites on the internet).  Both options have their pros and cons. The first option, visiting individual sites, can be more time consuming since you will have to enter your information on each site, but can produce a more accurate quote. The second option, visiting the price comparison site is a much easier quicker option, but is not always as accurate.

To get an on line price quote you will be asked a variety of questions. Different sites questions will be similar in nature. You will need personal information of any drivers that will be on the policy including gender, name, date of birth, driving history, how long they have held a driver’s license and the dates of any recent accidents or violations. You will not necessarily need a driver’s license number, but some sites will allow you to enter your license information.  This will allow them to give you a more accurate quote, especially if you have been in an accident or received any violations.

You will also need to provide vehicle information for the automobiles that you wish to insure. Be sure you know your make and model years of any automobiles that will be included in the policy.  A VIN or vehicle identification number is also optional, but when entered can offer a more accurate price quote.

Most likely you will also need to provide information on your current coverage. You will need to enter what company your current policy is through as well as what coverage your currently have and the policy number.  You will also need the date your current coverage began and when it is set to expire.

Finally, you will need to enter information on what type of auto insurance coverage you would like to have for the policy you are receiving a quote on. It is best to have this decided before you get on line, but some people will opt to compare different price rates for a variety of coverage options.

As a final note, always make sure that you are entering accurate information. You should also know that price quotes are not always guaranteed. In some instances you will be able to buy your insurance on line, but in many cases you will need to contact the company to get a guaranteed quote and to purchase a policy.
