These days, money is so hard to find and we really need to tighten our budget and save some for our pockets. Here are simple ways to do them, which can really help you save plenty of dollars:

Loose Change

After shopping, keep your loose change. Place them in a piggy bank, can, bowl, or any type of container. The coins, when accumulated, can give you a good sum of money. Some people just ignore their loose change because it looks invaluable for them, but what they don’t know is that will be worth much more than they can imagine when a few of it is being saved from time to time.

Bank Account

After receiving your salary either weekly or monthly, try to set aside a percentage of it and deposit it in your bank account. It really doesn’t matter if it’s big or small as long as you have saved something. A rule of thumb for many people is to set aside at least 15% of their take home pay as savings.

Product Samples or Giveaways

There are several websites that give out product samples for free. You may check out the websites WalMart.com and SmartSampling.com if you want free items, such as soaps, shampoos, lotions and even dog foods. You can also directly check the websites of some manufacturers to get free samples especially if they have newly-launched products.

Clip Coupons

Cut out coupons from magazines or newspapers. By using coupons, you can reduce your grocery expenses monthly. Studies show that you can actually lessen it by more than 50% and that’s a lot of savings! If you intend to shop online, do a search for online coupons for better bargains.

High Interest Credit Cards

As much as possible, refrain from using a credit card that has high interest, but if you really need to use it, make sure that you will settle it in full when the bill comes around. If you are really serious about saving money, you ought to make it a point to not spend more than you can afford to and buying on borrowed credit is a sure recipe for financial disaster if you are not careful enough. Note that the longer you drag the repayment period for your credit card expenses, the bigger the interest that you’ll be paying.

Items on Sale in Groceries

When you‘re in a grocery store, check out the items that are on sale. You will save plenty of dollars by shopping with practicality. But when buying on-sale products, do not forget to check the expiration dates.

Shopping Practices

Only buy the things you need and the things you can afford. Avoid being an impulsive buyer because you might end up drowning in debt. Likewise, don’t make it a practise to buy goods just because they are on sale! The rule that you should apply is to buy something that you really need, not something that you want. That’s a whole world of difference!

Items on Sale in Department Stores

If you want to buy a new dress or shoes, try to wait for the sales season if it is not urgent. There are many good items in sale racks that will cost you up to 70% less. This amount of saving really means a lot these days.

At the end of the day, what matters most is self-discipline. It is good to read about tips to save money but it is far more important to put them into practice.

This is a guest post by PabloPabla, a lawyer by day who enjoys blogging about money-related matters. Like many others, PabloPabla is not debt-free but he believes that with discipline and hard work, being debt-free is something which can be achieved.

maybe it’s just me – but there is Norfolk ‘n’ Waypahl that you can cut your grocery bill in half using coupons. either that, or their coupon section is WAY better than mine. most coupons to me seem to be off stuff I don’t want or need anyway – I use diapers coupons, and maybe some random cleaning stuff. I’d like to see coupons for fresh veggies and fruits. or dairy products. any real food (as in, not processed). maybe then I could see a 50% cut in my grocery bills.

The thing I liked most was the advice about buying only the necessary things. It’s obvious, but there are some “shopaholics” tha aren’t able to control themselves in the store. I’m not among them, but this is pretty stratnge thing, I’d like to say.
